We Strategically and Safely Create Impact
Many of our residents have lived in our neighborhood for generations, upholding the culture and values of a strong and cohesive community. But how do we continue to further that legacy inter-generationally and in the midst of 21st Century shifts in innovation and new challenges?
We listen. We listen to our residents, who have voiced key areas of improvement that we can focus on to sustain our community while moving forward.
We also do something.
We promote progress through education and introducing new resources that enable self-help and self-determination. Progress has become key themes of our organization and our community, but not at the expense of preservation.

Improve the quality of life of over 130 households within community relevant areas of focus.

Reach 1,800 persons per year with informational and educational content.

Scaled initiatives to encompass all residents, including, 15 community projects, 11 community forums, and 7 educational forums.

Targeting nearly $800K in funding over the next 5 years to support strategic initiatives: Homecare Initiative, Safe Sanford, and Sustainable Sanford.

BE SAFE, BE WELL, & MAKE A DIFFERENCE
"Where every block that touches ours is safe and sound" has been the mantra for our community since the inception of our block association.
A Sanford Place Block Association & Friends 2021 community survey uncovered that our residents have safety and blight challenges with their homes. Many residents do not meet City of Newark income requirements to qualify for assistance. They are also not able to cover costs of extensive and needed repairs, nor do their ages and abilities permit them on their own.
